I MISS BRUNCH. I realize how very basic that sounds, but with everything happening in the world (I doesn’t get a name over here., consider it Voldemort) its one of the simple pleasures in life I really miss. I also really REALLY miss weddings. Right before the shutdown, we had the privilege of photographing Paige and Andrew’s brunch wedding at the absolute cutest venue in the world, combining a bunch of my favorite things- weddings, brunch, funky wallpaper, gas station taquitos (okay, they didn’t supply those but we did travel to N. Georgia for this wedding so we got some) and joy.
Andrew and Paige picked the beautiful Oakleaf Cottage, surrounded by enormous trees and nestled into the side of a mountain. They also chose to do a mid-day wedding, which is a great choice for winter and early spring because of it getting darker out quicker! Brunch weddings may just be a new favorite of ours. I think one of my favorite things about this day was the way the couple placed importance on only the things that mattered most to them and forgot the rest. So often we have it engrained in our minds that weddings MUST be a certain way. You must serve cake, you must have a lively dance floor, you must invite every person you’ve ever met- its simply not true. I believe that the only thing you must do is have the day that YOU want! Does that mean you elope instead? Do that. Do you hate wedding dresses and instead want to wear a pant suit? Go for it. Want to serve gas station taquitos exclusively? Okay, that one is more for me but you get the point. Plan the day you’ll look back on and say “that was exactly what I wanted.” Andrew and Paige did just that.
